The Conference Board of Church and Society is a link to the General Boad of Church and Society. Program are developed that provides education and action on issues confronting the Church consistent with the Social Principles and the policies adopted by the General Conference.
The Conference Board of Church and Society meets at least six times a year and has representation from a majority of the districts. The participation from local churches comes from the Public Theology Advocates (PTA's). We had a get together for them in 2010 and we plan to do another one in 2012. Some churches have their own Church and Society committees.
We have a booth and Luncheon speaker at Annual Conference. This past year at Annual Conference, we had a Resolution regardng 9/11. Since this day fell on a Sunday, we asked churches not have meetings on that Sunday but instead be with the community.
We encourage the churches to apply for the Peace with Justice Grants that are through the General and Conference Board of Church and Society. Rev. Jonathan Campbell is the Conference Peace with Justice Coordinator.
The meeting dates for Church & Society in 2012 are: Jan. 21, Feb. 25, March 24, June 9, Sept. 15, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17.
