Juel F. Nelson

Director of Leadership Development | Associate Superintendent, Metro Highlands Region

Juel coaches and encourages leaders to live into God’s greater vision. As a member of the Leadership Development Team, Juel designs and oversees leadership programming so that clergy and laity are resourced in such areas as spiritual servant leadership, emotional intelligence, change management, cultural competency, and church vitality. In supporting GNJ’s focus on recruiting and developing leaders, she serves on The Board of Laity and collaborates with The Board of Ordained Ministry. Juel, an Ordained Elder, has pastored congregations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She earned a Doctorate in Education in Leadership and Innovation from New York University, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Joseph’s University, and a Certificate in Leadership from Cornell University. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and Drew Theological School. Juel is a certified teacher and a coach and enjoys swimming, rowing, gardening, and residing at the Jersey Shore.
