The United Methodist Church of Red Bank, a Greenfaith congregation in Red Bank, hosted a week-long, green-focused program the first week of August. Children ages 5-11 got their hands dirty exploring, celebrating, and learning to care for God’s good creation. Kids who attended Great Big Beautiful World saw the life stages of a monarch butterfly from Betty Rushton; learned from Taylor Berry of Rising Tide Botanicals about gardening and faith, heard from Blair Nelsen of Spiritwater about the watercycle; and met the Red Bank assemblage artist, Lisa Bagwell, who makes art from found objects on the beach. Bonnie Deroski, Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries, says, “it’s really important for kids to learn to care for the earth at a young age. That’s the way good habits form.”
