Title: Director of Youth Group, Grades 6-12
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Position Mission: To share the love and word of Jesus Christ with Middle and High School-aged youth (grades 6-12).

- An ability to multitask and deal with a variety of details and demands.
- Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate Bible lessons and activities.
Specific Duties: The director will:
- Support and understand the larger vision and strategic plan of Wesley UMC, and in consultation with the lead pastor, aim to help students know God, grow in faith, and serve the community as disciples of Christ.
- Recruit, train, and coach a team of laypersons who love Jesus Christ and enjoy working with students to serve in the ministry.
- Develop relationships and engage students utilizing multiple forms of communication including social media (with parental permission).
- Attend the 10:30 am worship service on Sundays and have fellowship with students afterward.
- Plan, organize, and conduct a variety of student ministries, including, but not limited to:
- Weekly youth group program from September to May.
- Summer fellowship opportunities in July and August.
- Annual student retreat.
- Various events, including but not limited to Rally Day, Senior Blessing, Welcoming Event, Christmas and Easter activities, etc.
- Be connected with students and their parents throughout the week.
- Recruit volunteers for the mission and ministry of the church, such as Sunday School, Worship Media Team, Music Ministry Team, VBS, etc.
- Encourage students to attend worship services.
- Invite new students to our ministry programs and worship services.
- Work with the lead pastor for the confirmation class.
- Coordinate the annual IGNITE youth conference.
- Collaborate, as needed, with the Sunday School Coordinator and Music Director. This includes supporting the Music Director in scheduling practices for the youth music ministry and involvement in the Children’s Ministry, among other duties.
- Be attentive to the need for pastoral care for students and their families and inform the lead pastor.
- Other duties as required.
Meetings:
- Bi-weekly staff meetings.
- Annual review with the SPRC (Staff-Parish Relations Committee).
Reporting:
- Weekly Vital-Signs statistical report / Attendance.
- Quarterly reports to the SPRC.
- Reports as requested by the lead pastor, including weekly contact reports.
Hours: 15 hours weekly
