Vincentown United Methodist Church presented a concert to benefit war-torn Ukraine February 18, with the theme “For God So Loved the World.” Hosted by Pastor Connie Squire, the church’s music director Myra Sparks and guest pianist Betty Meserall were featured artists.
A freewill offering was given to the Ukraine Trust Chain, an organization of volunteers in the U.S. and in Ukraine, who together send and deliver food, water, medicine, firewood and other needed supplies to remote areas and in the warzone itself.
Following the concert, Ilya Knizhnik, a member of the Ukraine Trust Chain (UTC) in the U.S. spoke to the gathering, citing many examples of the courageous acts that are performed daily by this amazing Trust Chain.
Afterward, an Arts and Antiques show displayed handmade items such as quilts, jewelry and paintings for sale. The Vincentown congregation and other members of the community worked together to make the concert a success. The proceeds from the concert and the Arts and Antiques show raised over $4,800.
Because the UTC is all volunteer, there are no administrative costs. So, every bit of the offering went to help the people of Ukraine. Learn more about UTC and see photos at ukrainetrustchain.org. Please continue to remember the people of Ukraine during their ongoing humanitarian crisis.
