A Call to Prayer for General Conference (2024) and for GNJ’s Delegates

April 15, 2024 |

The Rev. Drew Dyson and Bethany Amey,  Greater New Jersey’s delegation leaders to The United Methodist Church’s General & Northeastern Jurisdictional conferences, share a prayer calendar for those who want to lift the quadrennial legislative assembly and GNJ’s delegates together in prayer.

The postponed 2020 General Conference will meet in Charlotte, North Carolina April 23 to May 3, 2024, for a total of 11 days. The prayer calendar adds three days for delegates’ preparation and travel.

“A group of GNJ members are organizing a prayer chain and inviting clergy and laity to sign to pray daily during the same 15-minute time block,” said Dyson. “Use this link to sign up for a time slot: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/508054DA9AE2AA2FA7-48980751-general.

General Conference comprises 862 delegates (half clergy, half laity). Forty-four percent come from outside the USA. Fifty-six percent are from the USA. Each delegate is assigned to a General Conference Legislative Committee.

The calendar names particular agenda events, reports and legislation highlighted for each day.

Please pray that this General Conference will bear witness to a more perfect way of faithful service to Christ, who makes all things new and reconciles all people unto himself.  2 Corinthians 5:16-20.
