Dear Friends in Christ, As we approach Mother’s Day, I am reminded of a profoundly moving moment during our last visit to Tanzania. Bishop Mande Muyombo invoked the power of a “mother’s prayer,” inviting the women of Tanzania to pray over us. It was a gift like none other. This Mother’s Day, let us channel that same spirit of care and commitment into completing our #ForTanzania Campaign. You have generously raised over $85,000 towards our $100,000 goal of building a church in Dar es Salaam and supporting our Tanzanian pastoral colleagues. There is only $15,000 left. With the Annual Conference just two weeks away and our campaign drawing to a close, I urge each Greater New Jersey church to dedicate a special offering this and the next Sunday in honor of mothers and women everywhere and bring these gifts with you to the Annual Conference. The unity and connectionalism we witnessed at this year’s General Conference are a powerful reminder of our need to support each other. Just as we draw strength from our shared faith, let’s draw our circle wider to include our Tanzanian siblings, demonstrating the expansive reach of our United Methodist community. Thank you for your faithful support and the love you extend across our global connection. |
