We welcome Bishop John Schol back to Greater New Jersey for his eleventh year as our episcopal leader. Over the years, Bishop Schol led the church through Hurricane Sandy, reconciliation with survivors of BSA, the COVID-19 pandemic, denominational disaffiliation, and the journey of hope to end the sin of racism. His sights continue on God’s vision ahead.
“I am grateful and humbled to be reassigned to GNJ,” shared Bishop Schol, “I look forward to learning how I can best serve Christ and the church in this quadrennium.”
Bishop Schol will be meeting with the cabinet and lay and clergy leadership to learn how he can best serve GNJ. He will be asking three questions.
- What has gone well in the last several years and how can I lead to assist clergy and congregations so we do more of this?
- What can I do in my role as bishop to help improve the mission and vitality of congregations, leadership of clergy and laity and the mission of GNJ?
- If together we were to accomplish one thing during this quadrennium, what would it be?
If you would like to provide feedback to Bishop Schol on these three questions you are invited to email him at: BishopJohnSchol@gnjumc.org
