The Coalition of Religious Leaders of New Jersey is hosting a Town Hall Meeting with Sen. Cory Booker on ” Criminal Justice and Justice for All: Race, Faith, Incarceration and Community Action. ” The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Christ Church, East Orange.
People are encouraged to be in attendance with those from their faith community who share the interest of addressing the issues of criminal justice and race relations. The design team for this program includes Coalition members Bishop Mark Beckwith, Rev. Charles Boyer, Rabbi Matthew Gewirtz, Rev. Craig Hirshberg, Rev. Jack Johnson, and Bishop John Schol. The program will feature a panel, moderated by Bishop Schol, including Coalition members Rabbi Gewirtz, Rev. Hirshberg and Bishop Reginald Jackson along with a member of the National Black Law Enforcement Association.
In addition, Mr. Walter Fortson, Jr., an advocate for criminal justice reform, will join the panel to provide his first-hand experience of the reality of incarceration.
