Job Description
The primary focus of the Director of Marketing and Communications at United Methodist Church at New Brunswick Church is to create, organize, facilitate and implement all communication regarding the mission and ministry of the church. Various types of digital and print media will be used, and the target audience will range from pastoral and non-pastoral staff to lay leadership, congregation members, and the community as a whole. The marketing director will have the opportunity to use his/her creative skills in a variety of ways.

Ideal Candidate

  • Is able to work independently and manage his or her own deadlines
  • Has experience in graphic design and creating on-brand marketing collateral to help the church raise awareness and generate interest in various campaigns
  • Has prior experience with basic photography and video editing
  • Is highly skilled in writing clear and concise copy, with accuracy and proper grammar
  • Is naturally friendly and outgoing and able to make community as well as church contacts in order to create desired marketing pieces, videos, press releases
  • Embraces the diversity of the church and surrounding community and is sensitive to using appropriate language in all marketing pieces, and designing on brand collateral that reflects the diversity of the church and in the surrounding community
  • Embraces the church welcome statement

Responsibilities Include

  • Maintaining the church website, social media, and business listings to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is presented
  • Using the United Methodist brand logo, colors and typeface to create consistent materials including web forms, church bulletin designs, flyers, graphics for social media
  • Creating 30 to 60 second video trailer is for upcoming church message series
  • Designing and scheduling social media posts and images for church message series, events, special holidays, website, and other items as assigned
  • Attending weekly staff meetings in order to stay abreast of what is happening in the life of the church
  • Creating and publishing web forms to allow for easy collection of data for various church functions
  • Update various sections of the church website when requested by committees or staff members
  • Creating Google ads and Google my business post to support church campaigns in particular, Christmas and Easter services
  • Reviewing Google analytics for the church website to determine performance of various website details, and campaigns
  • Sharing all designs and documents with the pastor and office administrator on the shared Google drives for easy access
  • Working closely with the pastor, design and order banners for the church exterior, interior signage, and other duties as assigned
  • Working closely with volunteers that chair various church committees
