Dear Leaders of GNJ and our congregations,
The following are essential actions and information for this week.
1. Payroll Protection Program (PPP) Reopened Monday – Pastors, Treasurers and Finance Chairperson
In 2020 GNJ’s congregations and ministries received $8 million in PPP (Payroll Protection Program approved by Congress and signed by the President). The PPP portal is now open for new applications through banks. As we experienced in 2020 some congregations’ banks did not participate in the program and GNJ provided other banks that would work with you. We encourage our churches to act quickly to take advantage of this additional funding. PPP includes forgivable loans for churches and nonprofits whose income was 25% less in at least one quarter in 2020 as compared to 2019. All congregations, including those who received funding last year, are strongly encouraged to apply. To apply and for information on key provisions of this new funding, visit here.
2. Small Groups for Epiphany on Wednesday – All
The last two Small Groups for Epiphany will be hosted tomorrow by Bishop Schol at 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. to explore how God wants to use you to speak to others. Join us and share this invitation with your congregation. Zoom link for the small group session. Webpage for more information.
3. Special Annual Conference Session – All Clergy and Lay Members to the Annual Conference
Registration is open for the Special Annual Conference Session scheduled for Friday, Jan. 22 at 4:00 p.m. The two-hour virtual session is being hosted over Zoom to review a shared billing plan and adopt any necessary budget changes. The second information session where questions can be addressed will be hosted this evening at 6:30 p.m. To ensure clarification and avoid any confusion, we will add the questions asked during these info sessions to the FAQ page. Also for your reference, a 13-page financial report and a Participants’ Guide are available. For details
In Christ,
GNJ Leadership
