Pastor Meekyung Choi Kim and members of the Flanders United Methodist Church congregation will celebrate 226 years of ministry in the Mount Olive area with a special morning worship service on Sunday, October 11, starting at 11 AM.
Flanders UMC is a recently recognized Greater New Jersey Annual Conference Historic Site because of its role in establishing Northwest New Jersey Methodism. Mark Shenise of the General Commission on Archives and History will be the guest speaker. The present 1857 structure has recently undergone limited historic renovation and is a model for typical Methodist church architecture from that period. The sanctuary is recognized as a registered New Jersey Historic Place since 2012. Everyone is invited to take part in the celebration. Directions can be found here.
