GNJ Board and Committee Leaders Sought for 2024-2025

December 18, 2023 | | GNJ News

The mission of United Methodists of Greater New Jersey is “to recruit and develop transformational leaders so that people and communities experience healing, renewal and wholeness from God.” That mission pertains not only to congregations but also to the conference boards, agencies and committees that serve them.

Now, new leaders—faithful disciples committed to connectional ministry—are needed and being sought for some of those boards, agencies and committees for 2025. GNJ’s Nominations Committee, chaired by Conference Lay Leader David Yamoah, is helping each of those groups to find and recruit gifted members for election by the 2025 Annual Conference to fill current and continuing leadership needs.

A key “Ending the Sin of Racism” goal is to increase the numbers of People of Color who chair boards, agencies and committees to ensure that they occupy at least 50 percent of those roles.

To learn who leads the various boards, committees and agencies visit the Connectional Table web page.  The Rev. Iraida Ruiz de Porras chairs the Connectional Table.

To learn the mission of each group visit the Agencies and Committees  web page. And finally, to learn their membership needs and to complete nomination applications for yourself or others, visit the Nominations Committee Application web page. (Scroll down the page to see the application.)

Boards, committees and agencies have submitted both their leadership needs—including chairpersons for some—and their current nominees to the Nominations Committee, who will contact nominees to confirm their interest in serving. But additional nominees are welcome. Anyone who wishes to serve should complete and submit a Nominations Application  by no later than January 15.
