A Future With Hope, Inc, a non-profit with the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference, is seeking exceptional individuals to join their Hurricane Ida Recovery team. A Future With Hope (AFWH) has a stellar reputation from its impactful recovery work after Superstorm Sandy wiped NJ’s coast, connecting 1,000 households with disaster case managers and engaging over 12,000 volunteers to repair nearly 300 damaged homes.
Hurricane Ida hit New Jersey on September 1, 2021, causing tornadoes, severe winds, and major flooding; a major disaster declaration was made in 12 counties due to the extent of the damage. AFWH immediately set to work assessing community needs, distributing cleaning buckets, providing dumpsters, and cleaning out flooded churches.
At almost one year later, the recovery work is just beginning. Our initial goal is to connect over 200 households with disaster case managers and engage hundreds of volunteers to repair over 50 damaged residences. We know that the resources for this disaster are limited, so we are committed to strong partnerships, creative problem-solving, and efficient financial solutions to serve those most in need who wouldn’t otherwise be able to recover without the generous support of non-profit collaboratives.
The Disaster Case Manager position for Hurricane Ida through AFWH will be the first of its kind in all of New Jersey. This is a pivotal opportunity in the state of NJ and a great opportunity to work with a compassionate team of individuals at Greater New Jersey Annual Conference.
