What are you giving thanks for, as you count your blessings? I don’t know about you, but I have found myself appreciating the simple things more these past few months. My gratitude has been rising, from eating a still warm homemade chocolate chip cookie to viewing a picture of a garden growing or infant on the way to a toddler taking their first steps.
Research continues to show that gratitude is good for you, mind, body and spirit! It literally helps reframe your perspective and rewire your brain. I challenge you to write down three things that you give THANKS to GOD for. Writing it down, uses more of your brain and helps root the gratitude in your life. No matter what you are dealing with, take time to count your blessings and write down several each day. One young mom, seeking to teach her children to be thankful, left a bowl for loose change in the entryway. Next to it was a large bottle that was labeled “Blessing Bottle.” Each person was invited, as they were thankful for something, to take a coin and put it in the bottle with a simple prayer that said THANK YOU GOD for……!
Don’t waste this season of challenge from COVID-19 and as we as a nation work together to address issues of injustice, broken hearts, suppressed dreams and deep hurt nearer to us than we often realize. May we learn from our experiences and then put what we learn into practice! May we cherish what we value and then order our days not to just make a living but to have the life God intends. AND may we be people of Grace and GRATITUDE!
