Duties include:
- Processing payroll twice/month and ensuring tax deposits are made
- Preparing checks for vendor payments for authorized signatures
- Remitting of conference billings and shared ministry payments
- Keeping records of financial transactions, including online giving
- Preparing and submitting GNJUMC reports for church conference and statistical reports in coordination with office staff
- Reconciling monthly statements
- Preparing and submitting annual workers’ compensation report
- Preparing monthly financial statements or when requested
- Ensuring submission of payroll tax report 941 and submission of monthly/quarterly/annual tax information/taxes
- Process and deliver W-2s for employees
- Process and deliver 1099s as needed
- Attendance at finance committee meetings and council meetings
- Supervise cash balances to ensure adequate cash is maintained for church operations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of budgeting, accounting and financial management
- Must know Quickbooks and Quickbooks payroll
- Ability to work with computers, financial software and office equipment
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity with UMC structure, guidelines and procedures a plus
- Must pass background check
Salary commensurate with experience. Average work week: 8 hours; flexible and will fluctuate with work required.
